Catch a Moment of Life
Catch a Moment of Life investigates rituals performed by a large number of people such as praying, burning incense, vowing, blessing and building a tower. I interpret the common intention underlying these rituals as an attempt to overcome the finitude of human beings.
And Catch a Moment of life aims to catch the residues of these actions which end in an instant.
Materials like epoxy, alginate, silicone, book and words, glue and gypsum used in this work represent human efforts to record life and leave something behind after their extinction.
Silicone drops of prayer's hands, the words preserved as a cube, ash of incense from a local temple, a stone and its skins, a preserved book from the left in the photo.
